The “Reconversion and Operation of the Former Industrial Slaughterhouse of Porto” aims to transform the site, decommissioned for around 20 years, into a flagship facility for the rehabilitation of the city’s eastern area.
Located between Rua de São Roque da Lameira and the Dragão stadium, the project establishes a public pedestrian route through the construction of a new elevated walkway that crosses the VCI, enabling a direct connection to the Dragão metro station.
The intervention program foresees the full reconversion of the complex—preserving its historical memory and architectural character—into diversified and multipurpose business spaces; local-support commercial and leisure areas; spaces dedicated to social initiatives and engagement with the local community; and cultural and artistic facilities intended for exhibition, production, and storage.
